Bloody Disgusting has compiled a list of the best 15 Horror performances of the past year. The clear "winning film" on this list would easily be The Lighthouse, with both Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson appearing as #1 and #3, respectively. The top 5 is also rounded out with Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) and Florence Pugh (Midsommar) at #4 and #5. Though I'd argue those two should be switched in the ranks at the very least, they're both good calls either way. In terms of acting, I think Florence Pugh was incredible, displaying her constant state of mental anguish in Midsommar, while although it was clearly a fun role, Samara Weaving had the less complex victim-turned-badass bride role. Bill Hadar and James Ransone appear further down the list for It: Chapter 2. Bill Hader - definitely. James Ransone...eh....he did a good job portraying the adult Eddie but nothing groundbreaking going on. My question is why isn't Rebecca Ferguson on this list for Doctor Sleep? Who else should be on this list? So apparently a Texas family is freaked out after a singing Elsa doll continuously sings "Let It Go" on its own. That's no doubt a nightmare in itself. After becoming frustrated with the incessant singing, the doll was thrown away - only to be found back inside weeks later. Hrm. So the next move was to wrap it in a plastic bag, then place said back in another garbage bag of trash, which was placed outside. The family claims the doll was later found outside, unwrapped. In a "challenge accepted" move - the family then packed the doll up and sent it north to Minnesota, to be received by a friend. Just to be extra safe, no return address was put on the package. The family claims as the doll was being packed, it laughed for 30 seconds straight. Now I don't know if it's the exact same one, but my daughter has an Elsa doll that sings "Let it go" (sigh...which I can neither confirm or deny I had any part of its disappearance) and it doesn't talk and surely doesn't laugh. So if the family isn't making this up, that's pretty interesting. The fate of this doll? Apparently it's strapped to the grill of a Jeep, so if you happen to see it on the road, snap a pic for us. Original story by Dread Central Comicbook.com has been posting a few articles about Stranger Things 4. First, it's looking more like season 4 will have 9 episodes, not 8. No complaints here. The bigger question is - will David Harbour's Hopper be returning after seemingly not survived season 3? After completing work on Marvel's Black Widow, he says he has no work lined up yet regarding Stranger Things. He hasn't heard from the show's creators, the Duffer brothers, so now he's not so sure that he is "The American" referenced in the final season 3 episode. To be fair, its unlikely we would see season 4 any time in 2020, so it may be too early to say either way. Maybe Hopper being "The American" would be too convenient or obvious. But - it's hard to imagine that Hopper really is off the show, so perhaps he'll appear later in the season in some unexpected way? So, at the moment there doesn't seem to be much information available, but with the recent efforts to reboot their classic monster movies, Universal is scripting something titled "Monster Mash," according to Horror Cult Films, SlashFilm, and others. There are little to no details out there, other than it will be directed by the same guy that made CeeLo's "Fuck You" video. O-K...?
This one should cause some debate. Fansided listed their top 5 female horror villains, putting Annie Wilkes at #5, while giving #1 to Samara. Eh...really? What about Angela Baker from Sleepaway Camp? Carrie? Baby? Throw your nomination in the comments! Remember the scoreboard from Cabin in the Woods? How about the edge-to-edge writing in those notebooks in Se7en? Here's an article that goes back and points out some fun details easily overlooked or unappreciated in some iconic horror movies.
