What drew you to the haunt industry?
My family has done it since I was a child. How long have you been scaring people? 29 years, since I was 11 years old. If you could be in any horror movie, which one would it be? One of my own creation. What horror character inspires you the most? Too many to choose just one. What's the scariest movie you've ever seen? Aliens. Only because I was a very young child when I saw it though and that's when I could genuinely be scared. I enjoy the making-of aspects while watching the movie and am not the scareable type. I'm more the scare-er. LOL. |
What's your most memorable moment at a haunt?
Had a lady break her leg - compound fracture, had multiple people pee themselves, more than I could ever count having to be escorted out, had people knock themselves silly taking off in the opposite direction and slamming into walls and so many more - impossible to list of them all in this small of a space. But all in all, I guess my most memorable night would be the one where I made my very first haunted creation. it was the head from a guillotine that as I released the blade would pop up in the air, I would catch it and try and get people to kiss it. I took it a step further and stuck a spike up in the bottom of the head and then mounted a camera flash in the eyeball down to a button mounted on the stick. Very rudimentary and actually shocked me a few times, lol. But using that as a way to kind of temporarily blind people while walking through a poorly lit area worked spectacularly. The first couple of nights were very nice and then later people not only recognized it in the following years, but many other haunts tried to take the idea and adapt it one way or the other, asking me how I made it, etc. I was probably 14 at the time.
Do you like scaring people more, or do you think it's more fun to be scared?
I am definitely the scare-er.
What do you do during the other seasons?
Work on cars, raise my son, make costumes and accessories for my characters in my attic.
What's your favorite way to spend Halloween?
Scaring the crap out of people for fun and taking my son trick or treating.
Who are your heroes in the haunt industry?
My uncle and my grandfather. Without them I would have never been involved.
If you could tell everyone coming through your haunt one thing, what would it be?
Run.
What scares you the most?
Linear time.
