Tell us a little about yourself - anything you'd like to share.
I've been in the business for 11 seasons currently. I have over 10 characters to my name. I worked the introduction scene at Haunted Hotel for 4 years. Currently I am on the "Leadership" team at Hotel. I was also in charge of acting training, stage combat, and line entertainment. What drew you to the haunt industry? When I became "too old to trick or treat" at maybe 10 years old, I spent Halloween scaring kids in my front yard. Whatever candy was left over was mine. After a few years of that, kids began refusing to come near my house. My mom was mad because she wasn't getting trick-or-treaters and told me to go work for a place where I was supposed to do that. So I did. |
How long have you been scaring people?
If you count my yard haunting days (I do not count them) probably 16 years.
11 years currently within actual haunts
If you could be in any horror movie, which one would it be?
Probably Magic (1978)
What horror character inspires you the most?
I have usually relied more on my own imagination and my own characters even when I was a kid. (Though not horror) my own characters have taken elements from various Jokers throughout the years. Conceptually I like horror villains that are meant to play on deep psychological fears like Freddy with nightmares, or Pennywise.
What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?
It Chapter 1 (not a huge horror movie buff but I loved It)
What's your most memorable moment at a haunt?
The R.I.P. Experience at the U.S.S. Nightmare 2019 Newport KY. I always go for the extra experience when offered. Coming from a touch "Extreme" haunt, I love to get roughed up and whatnot. R.I.P. didn't allow for me to get roughed up but it did allow light touches and extra events that added 30-40 minutes to the haunt. I'll never forget being thrown into a dark room. Lights come on. And... nothing happened.... then slowly realizing that in the middle of a haunt, I just got thrown into an escape room.
Do you like scaring people more, or do you think it's more fun to be scared?
I prefer the rush of being the one doing the scaring.
What do you do during the other seasons?
My day job has me taking care of dogs. I spend much of my free time working on costuming for season; I'm also a nerd who likes to play D&D as well. I offer myself up for acting roles in films and such as well but roles are hard to come by.
What's your favorite way to spend Halloween?
In 11 years I've only had 1 Halloween where I wasn't working a haunt. During that 1 year, I enjoyed sitting outside in costume but not actively scaring. Watching all the costumes. Handing out candy. And drinking whiskey.
Who are your heroes in the haunt industry?
Lucian Tomes Jr. He was like my mentor in a way. I was his direct predecessor as the intro actor at Baxter Ave. Morgue.
Aidan Cowgell has been like my own mother throughout my 11 years. Has seen my greatest stumbles, and has helped me through my toughest times.
Ed Heimer. I did not realize this until after his passing, Ed had helped me embrace my spontaneous wacky side during my formative years, despite the consequences that come from that.
Teddy Summers. A good chunk of what I know costuming wise comes from Teddy. He wouldn't admit it but he's an amazing scare actor as well.
If you could tell everyone coming through your haunt one thing, what would it be?
Let go of Reality.
What scares you the most?
Missing body parts.
