Scare Factor
Donna - I combined the outdoor hayride scare factor with the indoor haunt scare factor, and came up with an average of seven. The hayride probably had a scare factor of six due to the impressive actors who give you an unexpected shock while riding on the open flatbed truck. The indoor haunt had a scare factor of eight due to the addition of an abundance of actors this year, darker areas, and more jump, scares than in the past. The indoor haunt I would have to say really upped their game this year for the scare category. Actors The actors for the most part were very convincing and stayed in character. I would say there was an over abundance of masks used, but the masks were very convincing considering the characters the actors were portraying. The young girl who played the Linda Blair character for the Exorcist scene was outstanding and totally convincing. She was one of the best actors I think I’ve ever seen in any haunt.. Immersion I have to give High marks for crowd interaction on the hayride as the characters do engage the people in their backstory and are seriously in your face multiple times during the ride. They bring a series of terrifying weapons, including a chainsaw an ax and a large knife and other weapons and, even though they don’t touch you, they get very close and intimidating. Entertainment
The entertainment value for Sandyland Acres considering the very affordable cost ($30 for the combination, hayride and haunted house) is an amazing value. They are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and the owner.Gene Webb has built the hayride and a haunted house basically with his bare hands over the years and made it something very unique and special. The hayride is very creative and makes the best use of a dark creepy cornfield. The fairly lengthy ride prays on your worst fears. Being in an open flatbed sitting on a bale of hay, you are vulnerable from behind and infront and overhead and they take advantage of this to invoke terror at every opportunity. |
What Makes This Haunt Special
First of all for $30 for the combo ticket you receive a top notch hayride and a haunted house that has consistently improved over the past 20 years. The venue itself - the dark cornfield, the creepy barn, and the excellent special effects used are unique for this haunted attraction since they are not store-bought, but created by the owner.
