Tell us a little about yourself - anything you'd like to share.
I work in the criminal Justice field and I really enjoy watching soccer, playing chess, studying philosophy. I am involved with the Ohio Haunters Association and helped put on the Ohio Halloween and Haunters Convention in 2019. What drew you to the haunt industry? I was born on Halloween so it sort of has always been a part of me. I one year was asked to put on a home haunt for my neighborhood and it just grew from there. How long have you been scaring people? 8 years now. 6 at a pro haunt and 3 years a home haunt before then. If you could be in any horror movie, which one would it be? 31. I would love to be one of those clown heads that is part of the game. |
What horror character inspires you the most?
Sam from Trick-r-Treat because I feel like I also want to be a guardian of Halloween, like him.
What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?
The Paranormal Activity films always shook me and got me jumpy afterwards.
What's your most memorable moment at a haunt?
As the Pumpkin Smasher character, I remember when people came back my 2nd year playing that character and kept trying to remind me of the interaction we had from the year before. It was a good feeling to know that my character had an impact on them to where they came back and tried to talk about it again.
Do you like scaring people more, or do you think it's more fun to be scared?
I enjoy scaring more. I like feeling like I have that power.
What do you do during the other seasons?
I have an amazing group of friends that I hang out with and I have a great family that we do fun activities together. I like to go to haunt conventions. I also sometimes help out with the build crew at the Dent Schoolhouse!
If you could design your dream haunt, and money was no object, what would it be?
It would be a restaurant!
What's your favorite way to spend Halloween?
Putting on my home haunt for the neighborhood.
Who are your heroes in the haunt industry?
Mike Ross of Sinister Sidney in Iowa. He is what I want to be in the haunt industry which is someone that brings people together and celebrates the love of haunting and almost doesn't know any strangers within the industry. Also Terry Rook who taught me how to act and continues to coach me today.
If you could tell everyone coming through your haunt one thing, what would it be?
Take your time to look at the details in the scene. Get immersed in what you see because there is a lot there.
What scares you the most?
This will sound dumb and deep but the future often times scares me because as we saw this last year, we just never know what's coming next.
Anything else you'd like to share?
Thank you to my amazing friends. I love you all. Nick, Panny, Zachary, Paige, Alex, Kayleigh, Terry, Margaret, and Melanie. Thank you to Bud, Josh, and Chuck for giving me the chance to portray pumpkin Smasher, and for this amazing haunt we all get to play in.
