Scare Factor
Paul - There are always some great scares in The Devil's Attic, I'd just like the intensity to stay a little more constant. Emily - Hiding spots were well done and I was surprised a few times. Todd - A fair amount of jump scares by hidden actors, but not consistently frightening since some scenes are as entertaining as they are scary. Actors Paul - The Devil is one of the most consistently excellent actors we come across in any haunt, and he gets things started on a high note. The other actors were super enthusiastic this year, and the costuming was right on point as well. Emily - Actors were very energetic and the best part of the haunt. Todd - The actors continue to shine and be a pillar for The Devil's Attic. Their energy is off the charts! Not every single actor is firing on a 10 but the larger roles demand your attention. Immersion Paul - The scenes are very well done, but I don't think the transitions from one to another keep your anticipation up quite as well as they could. Todd - Another strong point for this haunt. The sets, especially those recreating famous movie scenes, are impeccably crafted. The costuming as well remains above par as it has over the past decade. Entertainment Paul - I always enjoy The Devil's Attic and this year was no exception. The actors bring the energy and I always walk out feeling like I had a fun experience. Emily - I had a great time. Todd - Whether you're terrified by the Devil's collection of monsters or giddy just being in their presence, this haunt is not easily forgotten. There are NO slow spots and just like a good movie, you'll feel like time just slipped by. |
What Makes This Haunt Special
Paul - I don't think there's another haunt with an opening scene quite as good as The Devil's Attic. It always gets your heart pumping and anticipation building. I love change in haunts but as far as I'm concerned, this scene can stay forever. Also... that chainsaw is the best I've seen.
Emily - The Devil Todd - The Devil's Attic continue to remain the champion of movie icons recreation. The introduction by the devil (with more energy than ever) has always been a great prologue for the haunt. |
What Can Be Worked On
Paul - Some of the transitions from scene to scene just don't work for me. The quietness may build anticipation for a lot of people, but it's not the path to my fears.
Emily - Maybe some additional sound effects. I think additional drapery or other form of separation between sets would be beneficial. The acting this year was beyond the norm. Loved it! Todd - I think ambient soundtracks in some areas could help the few areas where rooms aren't directly connected to each other, such as the "white hallway." |
In Summary
Paul - The Devil's attic is a solid haunt that's on our must-visit list pretty much every year. The sets and the acting are the strong points, and I'd recommend anyone in the area looking for a scare-packed night.
Emily - This was a great start to our season. I always love Devil's Attic, but the energy and passion in the acting this year was beyond the norm. Loved it!
Todd - Whether you're terrified by the Devil's collection of monsters or giddy just being in their presence, this haunt is not easily forgotten. There are NO slow spots and just like a good movie, you'll feel like time just slipped by.
